balik, sekitar tahun 1956-7. Setelah Abah dan Omak meninggal dan bersemadi

      ABANG BOSA

Assalaamuaalaikum, Selamat Berkenalan. Confused ?...No, I'm Not Prof Alfred E Newman You Revered So Much Back In The Good Old Days. He Could Have Looked Like Me Though......I May Look Dazed Or Lost Here, But For Two Sens I'll Share My Marginal Thoughts With You On......

      Navigating Life's Odyssey:
This Commentary Attempts To Document This Soul's Journey Through Life's Maze, Desiring Hopefully To Leave Memorable Imprints Or Impressions Of A Passing Generation. The Experiences In One's Journey Throughout Life Should Be Documented For The Sake Of Posterity, If Not For It's Life Guiding Values, And Should Not Be Lost Forgotten, Buried In Mundane Oblivion. A Life Experience Is A Summation Of Those Successes And Failures, Ups And Downs, Turmoils, Trials And Tribulations, Cherished Or Otherwise, That Make Up Its Unique Value And Richness, Without Which Life Would Be Meaningless. And This Virtual Cyberworld Is The Apt, Appropriate Natural Domain Where Life's Poor And Rich Legacies Should Be Etched. Because It Forever Remains, Even After This Soul's Demise.

      Abang Bosa

      SEKARANG...

Most of the present day warga of Anjung Senama were not born during the passing on of the legendary Patriarch, Matriarch, Oligarch, Icon and Abode of Kampung Senama, Rembau, Negeri Sembilan. The others were just learning to walk or immature enough to cherish indelible memories of these legends gone by. The lucky one or two who managed to survive this iconic era would be shouldered then with the responsibility of sharing the pearls of wisdom of these family elders with the present. Yours truly this soul may have been long gone by the time you appreciate these annals.

      THE ICON

"Nyariih Datang Diihh ?...., Lamo Kau Tak Jongok Uwan Kau Ni Yo..., Hulur Lah Sebatang Kit..."

Uwan Tepok, crippled by poliomyelitis since young, always posed a striking figure bersela under a coconut or jambu tree with her tongkat by her side and saliva-rolling kertas rokok with Erinmore tobacco. To anyone entering Kampung Senama her curt address would be, "Nyariih datang diiihh ?...".No wrist watches were in fashion then, so when she wanted to know whether dzohor has begun, she would inquire, "Ketapi mel tongah hari dah lalu lun ?...". Children love to hide her walking stick, and then enjoy her antics trying to retreive it, and one would hear her laments to the end of the kampung when she missed her thitd leg. To anyone offering her Craven A or Rough Rider, especially if its a full pack, she would be in gratitude for the rest of her life.

      THE ABODE

Atok's house, the Rumah Gadang of Kampung Senama, was not big, but it was the safe and secure haven for us kids to grow up in. Kampung life was exposed to the harsh natural elements. We felt very safe in the wooden structure at nights behind securely bolted doors against the pelting rain beating the rumbia thatched roof and the gusty wind whistling among coconut fronds and swaying bamboo. Once in a while the frightened cackle of hens would prompt us to shine the lampu pichit beneath the house for prowlers. Hyperactive children would be quickly coaxed to sleep by Omak reciting baby-snatching pochong stories. Bedtime was as early as 9pm as there was no radio or TV. All of us sleep on the wooden floor on tikars or thin smelly kapok mattresses with elbows as pillows, all huddled around Omak. The youngest would enjoy the privilege of nuzzling her strangely odourless ketiak. The rooster was our alarm clock.

      THE OLIGARCH

The stoic octogenarian, Atok broke his back when the Tiang Seri of Mesjid Senama Hilir, which he was erecting, fell on him. He was forever bongkok after that. In fact all who meet him would recognise his humble stooping stance. His favourite reprimand for wayward kids was "chomak budak ni...", meaning 'monyomak/menyemak' or 'pest'. Being the enterprising land broker and receiving a monthly pencen from his teaching days, Atok was rich to everyone, and he was gracious to everyone too, especially to Omak in inheritance, being his favourite daughter. He was not only Atok to his family, but also Atok to everyone in the kampung. His favourite attire was the collarless Pagoda short sleeve white baju perat, many already tattered with holes due to overuse.

Atok Bador sekarang bersemadi di perkuburan Kampung Senama.

      THE MATRIARCH

Omak, the epitome of love and tenderness who brought Abang Bosa into this world 5 months before General Percival forced General Yamashita to his knees in Singapore. Omak nourished us with utmost care in severe times of need during the Japanese Occupation, cradling me (kendong) and the other siblings in tow escaping the enemy into the hills, thereby surviving on pisang bakar lenyet and ubi kayu robuih in the face of scarce rice and condensed milk chop junjung. Abang Bosa changed his name 3 times to overcome the onslaught of excruciating kembung perut due to this wartime infant nourishment. Atok faced the toughest times shielding Omak from the Japanese soldiers roaming the kampungs for "mee-sang" (women).

      THE PATRIARCH

The ultimate legend of Chembong who married the belle of Senama. Overcoming all impossible and improbable odds, became the first privileged rakyat jelata of Kampung Chembong, Rembau, Negeri Sembilan to join the ranks of royalty and elitists at the auspicious halls of The Malay College Kuala Kangsar, spurred by his prowess on the soccer field and a prematurely powerful command of the English tongue, which can put to shame many a would be present day English enthusiast. Thanks to the latter Abah was able to tread the hallowed grounds of Loughborough Technical College in London the early years following the fall from grace of the Japanese Invasion of Malaya.
